Partnership with Salford CSIN and Salford City Council



Do you fancy yourself as the next Mike Sweeney? Are you ex forces?

If so then the Salford based charity CSIN has teamed up with a Leigh based Armed Forces charity Shoulder to Soldier to secure funding for a number of certified training courses including, radio training courses, training in broadcast media, financial planning and management, Food hygiene courses, literacy and numeracy skills and Health and Safety. Other shorter courses are also planned.So if you are looking for a new challenge, if you need to improve your CV perhaps you cannot work due to health reasons then look no further and get involved.

Salford City Council Covenant Partnership supported the bid which is focused on ensuring that the courses include both ex forces and civilians.

Joe Barnwell Founder and Chief Executive of the CSIN, who hosts the radio breakfast show each Saturday at Salford City Radio said: “We are absolutely delighted with this boost of funding it means we can support our Armed Forces and wider community,we plan to deliver these courses and have a bit of fun at the same time. We want to see both communities coming together and forming friendships for life “

Linda Fisher Founder of UK wide Charity Shoulder to Soldier also has an armed forces radio show on Salford City Radio said
“We have been working with the CSIN Armed Forces Unit 10 on Armed Forces projects over the last 6 months and are really looking forward to being part of this project. Sometimes it is about sitting down and understanding people’s needs, so if its help with your financial management,housing and benefits help with your CV or getting into volunteering we will help you. This funding is also very much focused on bringing communities together overcoming barriers, tackling stereotypes and appreciating differences.”

The Gatehouse Victoria Park Swinton opening 20th November 2017

CSIN will be working with partners across Salford offering support and advice from the 20th November 2017 from the Gatehouse Victoria Park Swinton.If you would like more information about both project’s, please contact Joe Barnwell                ————————————————————————————— The Gatehouse Drop-in is opening soon to veterans, Regulars or Reserves, and their dependents, to come together in a relaxed social environment, pull up a sandbag and share similar experiences. It will also offer a range of groups – from PTSD to Media to Arts and Crafts and also a drop in advice and support centre. The Lodge will also be the home of CONTACT FM a veterans online radio show broadcasting around the world. And not forgetting a NAAFI Style weekly coffee morning.
